Cross Functional Services
In a manufacturing assembly line, where a complex process is broken down into multiple silo’s and processes consistency & standardization are driven with fanatical rigor to achieve operational excellence. IT organizations typically follow an approach adopted in the manufacturing industry’s assembly line model when it comes to implementing functional structures. Most of the IT organizations are also structured around silos of functional expertise.
There is a need for a cross functional layer that cuts across the functional silos to help reduce the inefficiencies while ensuring the benefits of operational excellence when operating in silos. This layer will be responsible for owning the service and the business experience along with driving process & technology standards across the IT organization.
The cross functional service layer is responsible for stitching the service experience in totality from the service components being delivered by the respective functional groups.
