Dr. Shami Khorana is a recognized leader in business strategy and technology implementations. He is HCL’s Head of Global Sales and Marketing as well as the President of HCL America, Inc. He is based out of HCL’s Vienna, Va. Office and is responsible for managing Global Sales Processes, Corporate Marketing, as well as U.S., Canada, and LATAM operations. He is a recognized leader in business strategy and technology implementations.
Prior to taking up the global role Shami managed the US operations. He was responsible for growth of this geography across multiple vertical sectors, including life sciences, hi-tech, retail, media and publishing, automotive and financial services, as well as in horizontal domains such as enterprise resource planning, enterprise application services, enterprise transformation services, customer relationship management, content management and other similar services. Under his leadership the annual US revenue crossed the $1Billion milestone.
He joined HCL as Vice President of Consulting Services in the U.S., and was in charge of growing the end-user business to supplement HCL’s traditional product and technology focus. Prior to HCL, Khorana served in senior management positions at James Martin & Co., the National Association of Security Dealers (NASD) and the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation.
Khorana earned a Ph.D. in physical chemistry at Bombay University, a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Notre Dame, and a master’s degree in business administration from Indiana University. Dr. Khorana has also taught at Indiana University, George Washington University and the University of Maryland.
