HCL’s engineering service offerings are built around providing “Solutions for Advanced Passenger Experience” (APEX). APEX is a unique suite of solutions bringing together disparate disciplines of Embedded, Electronic Hardware and Mechanical Engineering around the various Sub-Systems in automobiles.

HCL delivers greater impact through its manufacturing oriented design processes, in-house environmental screening and certification infrastructure and manufacturing tie-ups to provide unique Concept-to-Manufacture solutions which have significant impact on mitigating risk and improving time-to-market of Automotive components.

Powertrain

HCL has been working with OEMs and Tier 1s on powertrain technologies for more than a decade. For a leading Tier 1, HCL worked on ECU model development and validation through hardware-in-loop on multiple instrumentation tools such as LABCAR. This expertise is coupled with HCL’s experience in the emerging area of Hybrid powertrain to offer complete solutions. In addition, HCL also has experience in systems such as Traction motor control for electric vehicle transmission. HCL, having the advantage of working with customers from multiple industries including passenger cars, commercial vehicles, aerospace, and off road vehicles, is able to leverage domain expertise and best practices from multiple customers/industries to deliver value.

Body and Chassis

HCL has worked on design and development of various sub systems in body electronics. With Tier-1s in areas like end-to-end development of HVAC unit and steering angle sensors. HCL has developed interiors and exteriors along with engineering design, testing and analysis of automotive body unit.

Success Story  A leading tier 1 supplier in North America needs a test bench to validate its Steering Angle Sensor sub system.

Telematics

HCL has significant expertise in Telematics Operation Center simulation, Telematics Control Unit testing and validation, which can be attributed to the experience of working with several Telematics service providers and OEMs. HCL has also engaged with its vendors in program management and transitioning entire operation center from one service provider to another.

HCL has developed a complete end to end Fleet Management Telematics Solution for an environmental services company comprising hardware design, software design and development, and complete verification and validation and compliance testing.

Infotainment

HCL’s experience and expertise in building solutions for automotive electronics clubbed with its knowhow in consumer electronics positions it uniquely in the infotainment domain. HCL has been working with OEMs/ suppliers of consumer electronics industry for over 10 years in engineering their entertainment products. This allows HCL to have a lead in building technologies that would be used in cars of future giving it a learning curve advantage  as well as ability to leverage best practice and technology knowhow of consumer electronics industry in automotive infotainment. HCL has helped its customers  engineer products like Digital and Satellite Radio, Multimedia applications like video on demand,  Navigation, Telematics based information systems, etc.

Driver Assistance System/Driver Information Systems

HCL has executed several projects on instrument cluster development, testing for OEMs and Tier-1s. HCL has an excellent track record of developing fully configurable instrument cluster for a leading OEM which is currently running successfully in thousands of cars worldwide. HCL’s excellent imaging capabilities such as Lane departure warning, blind spot detection, panoramic rear view aid systems and crash notification systems provide customers multiple solutions on driver assistance at a single shop.

Safety System

HCL has executed projects for its client in the area of Reverse Parking Assist, Intelligent Headlamp Control, Side Object Detection, Blind Spot Detection and Crash Notification. HCL has excellent imaging expertise and has developed solutions for Lane Departure Warning, Panoramic rear View Aid, Forward Collision Detection and Traffic Sign Board Recognition. These Solutions can provide accelerated solutions for various Safety & Driver Assistance System solutions to its customers.
