Multi-Step PeopleSoft Upgrade from PeopleSoft 7.5 to PeopleSoft 8.9
Client: The world's leading producer and manager of primary aluminum, fabricated aluminum and alumina facilities; founded in 1886, and has corporate headquarters in PA, USA; has 116,000 employees in 44 countries; serves the aerospace, automotive, packaging, building & construction, commercial transportation and industrial markets, bringing design, engineering, production, and other capabilities as a single solution to customers.
Project: PeopleSoft Application Upgrade - technical upgrade of the current application landscape of PeopleSoft environment consisting of PeopleSoft Payroll 7.5 to PeopleSoft HRMS 8.9
Key Challenges & Objectives:
- Implementation of Impersonation, Sign On & Self-Service for State Tax Elections
- Development of HR Interface between Oracle and PeopleSoft Systems
- Reimplementation of security, as the design changed significantly
- Develop a GL interface between Oracle Financials and the PeopleSoft System
- Customizations to be carried forward to the upgraded environment
- The upgrade path involved two steps:
- Tools upgrade 7.63 to 8.47: PeopleTools upgrade from the existing version to 8.4x supported by 8.8 and 8.9
- Application upgrade (7.5 ->8.8SP1 ->8.9): application upgrade from 7.5 to 8.8 to 8.9
- Implemented ePay, along with the addition of Employee Self-Service for State Tax Elections
- Customizations carried forward to the upgraded environment
- Linkages to stand alone third party / bolt on applications
- Created a process to match the files, balance them, and flag any issues
- Enabled support for client's service centre by implementing Impersonation for all employee self service transactions
- Modified PeopleSoft Sign On to enable SSO via Site Minder
- Integration of PS Payroll with Oracle HRMS with the help of Component Interface
- Reimplementation of existing security to the new version for PeopleSoft Payroll
- Development of GL Interface between Oracle Financials and PeopleSoft System
- Enabled the company use Oracle HR along with PeopleSoft Payroll
- Developed Employee Self Service (ESS) for State Tax Elections
