Non-model Bases Approach (P-R-O-B-E)

PROBE stands for Process Re-engineering Ownership for Business Eminence. HCL follows the below mentioned three phases for non-model based process improvement:

Envisioning: This phase includes assessment of the processes / practices in the organization and baseline the current state, with reference to industry best practices, organization pain areas, IT business and process objectives.

Encoding: This phase focuses on identifying and articulating the desired state for the organization. Capability analysis planning is done for identifying the processes required to bridge the gap between current and desired states. A key component of this phase is the preparation of a training plan that will aid the organization in reaching the desired state.

Enacting & Embracing: The focus of this phase is to implement the processes and monitor the initiative. The four distinct sets of activities of this phase are:

• Initiation and propagation of practices
• Training of team members
• Communication of progress made
• Measurement-based monitoring of implemented practices, which in turn, provides feedback for further refinement.

HCL suggests this approach where focus is on achievement of IT objectives through establishment of IT processes, reducing/removing pain areas, Process intervention in a particular process area of the IT organization, Pilot some best practices etc.
