End to end research portal for leading online financial information provider
Business Need
The legacy system used by the client for research content authoring had very limited functionalities. The client was looking for an integrated platform that would enable both sell-side and buy-side research community to submit and consume research information.
HCL Solution
HCL was involved in all the stages of development life cycle, starting from business requirements gathering & high level design for sell-side authoring to development and maintenance of sell-side and buy-side research authoring application and research portal to consume the uploaded research. HCL team also carried out the decommissioning of Sell-side research authoring legacy applications. HCL was earlier maintaining the legacy applications and hence possessed enough domain knowledge to execute the project.
The contributions included analyzing and designing of a single research submission and consuming system involving:
- A single repository that would act as a mediator for submission and consumption of research documents of various formats such as PDF, Morning Meeting Notes, Estimates etc
- Use of Message Queuing to process research submissions
- Use of Microsoft BizTalk Server for distributing the research information to multiple vendors.
- Generation of the output content in RIXML format
- A website which enables research community to submit and consume research information.
- An on-line channel for distributing the research information to multiple vendors like Reuters, Bloomberg, Thomson, EDGAR etc.
- A robust search engine to retrieve documents on criteria such as ticker, analyst, region, industry, sector etc.
- Approximately 800 research documents are published and consumed online.
