SmartPad
Business Context
SmartPad is a Point of Sale/Point of Service system that provides agents with a streamlined way of managing customer related information throughout the business cycle. Introduced in 1993, it was primarily used to simplify the collection process and was subsequenlyt enhanced to support major activities including selling of new business, customer service, insurance review, beneficiary data capture etc.
Solution Objectives
In order to improve the level of maintenance and enhancement support for the application, it was proposed that HCL would provide the production support activities along with Continuous Improvement activities.
Solution Approach
HCL worked with the customer's team to understand the complex technical and business interfaces of the application. An offshore —onsite process was documented to ensure future enhancements to be seamlessly rolled out. This system is being maintained by HCL since 2002
Business Benefits
The customer has over 70% of its business done through the application. HCL involvement has reduced the cost of maintaining and enhancing this application. New and improved features have also been rolled out periodically to enhance the functionality.
