Implementing Guidewire ClaimCenter
Customer:The customer is a state owned Workers Compensation Insurer.
Business Situation- Customer using Legacy Claims Management System application as their primary claims processing system. The application was designed and developed 10 years ago and represents the technology and tools that were available during the 2-tier/client-server architectural arena.
- The business and data logic were so tightly coupled that making changes is very difficult. This leads to a delay in the implementation of business enhancements and also entails significant re-work thus necessitating total replacement of the entire system.
- In order to make its IT systems more flexible, customer created an Information Systems Plan that laid out a strategy for moving to an e-business model, with the focused business goal of providing web-access to business components for in-house and remote users (agents, providers, stakeholders and employees) through a common interface.
- Customer therefore required a new Claims Processing System based on a service-oriented architecture that would support an n-tier model.
- Extending the claims processing environment to policyholders, agents, partners, providers, and employees
- Systematically enforce claims management best practices across all policy types, business relationships, and regulatory requirements
- Providing a common electronic reporting solution to all relevant governing and regulatory bodies
- Streamlining work processes to increase efficiency throughout the claims organization
The project is being implemented jointly by Guidewire Software and HCL Technologies using the Onsite/Offshore model. The entire project has been divided into multiple phases covering Initiation, Discovery, Design, Solution Development and User Acceptance testing. The phases are
