Started over three decades ago, HCL is a leading global technology enterprise which began its journey in Europe in 1999. Today, HCL Europe is spread throughout 13 countries and employs a vast majority of local employees.

HCL’s Europe business contribution has increased from 7% of the company’s revenues (CY01) to 26.2% (CY 10), making it the fastest growing geography for HCL.

Transformation through Integrated Processes & Systems
  • The local government body responsible for the transport system in Greater London, England wanted to combine 9 separate modal transport companies into one common business, with best practice processes, and a single source of common data supported by a single technical platform.
  • HCL embarked on a transformation programme providing a world-class integrated system where more than 30 back office systems were replaced with a single SAP based integrated solution – improving business management, processes & information, and providing a foundation to improve customer service, reduce business support costs and meet eGovernment targets.
Application Operations, Infrastructure Management and BPO
  • A $ 5 bn global supplier of integrated circuits for the Personal & Networked computer wanted to reduce IT expenditure while maintaining service quality. It needed a variable-cost model to increase internal flexibility and responsiveness in a very cyclical industry.
  • HCL entered into a co-sourcing business model, providing applications management, helpdesk, and infrastructure management services - including desktop application support, desktop (onsite) services, email & calendaring, LAN/WAN management, security support, and server, storage and data center administration. Co-sourcing freed up our client to focus on its core business issues thereby increasing its ROI.
ASM across Europe, the Americas and Asia Pacific
  • The No.1 confectionery and third largest soft drinks company in the world was challenged to reduce its operations cost and meet peak business demands.
  • HCL provided ASM services through its Global Delivery 24x7 model, supporting a total of 350+ servers and 200+ databases across geos, with a successful ASM record [95%+ SLA compliance for SAP BASIS Support and 100% SLA compliance for ABAP track]. Handling over 1000 tickets per month for SAP BASIS and ensuring security across multiple geos, HCL successfully provided a single window of support across multiple applications and technologies.
Transforming IT & Operations
  • A leading UK Insurance Company wanted to improve its customer services and increase its ability to launch products faster.
  • HCL took up its entire IT function, allowing only the core architecture and BA functions in-house - providing flexibility and reduced time-to-market. Fixed Price AM Service based on SLAs, operation consolidation, SOA implementation through the ‘Darwin’ transformation initiative, implementation of shared services and unitized pricing was enabled for infra services while Apps and Infra teams were co-located offshore under unified governance, working towards a common service desk.

HCL rationalized 700+ processes over 7 companies in 6 geos into 42 processes (BPO). Guaranteed YoY productivity gains in AD based on function point counts made by a third party was 30% and 35%+ savings, over the deal period.
