Everyone is an Employee

HCL Technologies Ltd. (HCL), a leading global IT services provider, today announced the launch of a short film on its award winning philosophy Employees First, Customers Second (EFCS). This film has been created in partnership with leading brand agency Wieden+Kennedy, and renowned film maker Bharat Sikka.

The short film, that emphasizes the heroic role that every employee plays – be it a president or an intern, is being offered as HCL’s message of hope to the faltering global economy today.

HCL’s EFCS philosophy puts employees at the heart of the company’s success based on the belief that organizational focus and structures should be inverted to focus on the ‘value zone’ — the place where frontline employees interact with customers and create real value for them. This philosophy promotes an unconventional management style that is premised on reverse accountability to employees, grassroots empowerment and the establishment of a culture based on trust and transparency.

Fuelled by the EFCS philosophy, HCL Technologies had embarked on a transformation journey in 2005. Since then the company’s revenues have quadrupled, employee base and market cap have tripled and the stock price has doubled [Financial Year 2005 to FY 2011]. Validating the success of the philosophy, HCL also became the fastest growing IT Services Company in the world during the 2008-2009 global financial crisis.
“HCL’s employees have shaped our incredible growth momentum over the last six years. Today as nations and companies struggle to create jobs and enhance productivity, we feel we have a duty to educate the world on EFCS, the guiding force of our success story” said Vineet Nayar, former Vice Chairman and former CEO, HCL Technologies, at the film’s launch.

Over the next few months, HCL Technologies will be launching a digital campaign to ensure the film gets maximum viewership across the world.
