The Challenge
Impress Scan 2.1 is the current IMS in use by the client. This version was developed in the early 1990s and is a client-server application developed in VB / SQL Server. This version of the IMS is riddled with bugs and maintenance issues. The application can also not be scaled up to meet growing business needs. Since it is a client-server application, there are significant efforts involved in releasing new versions manually to each customer via CDs.

HCL offered its .NET expertise to build a new cost effective Instrument Management System to replace the client’s legacy application.
