- The Customer provides its Instrument Management System (IMS) application called Impress Scan 2.1, to its Customers who enter into long-term contract for supplies. Impress Scan 2.1's current version was developed in the early 1990s and is a customer-server application developed in VB / SQL Server. This version of the IMS is riddled with bugs and maintenance issues. The application can also not be scaled up to meet growing business needs. Since it is a customer-server application, there are significant effor ts involved in releasing new versions manually to each Customer via CDs.
