Factory Automation and Data on Demand
As the industry moved towards increasing wafer sizes, decreasing line widths and increasing complexity of tools, the IC makers, and equipment vendors are facing newer challenges like:
- Need to move into fully automated manufacturing facilities to increase productivity and reduce loss resulting in integration of complex 300mm automation scenarios on tool and factory side.
- Increasing the Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE), by improving the yield and productivity of the tools and reducing the startup and downtime of equipments. This can be achieved by better real-time and statistical control of equipments and better predictive maintenance of tools. These techniques required more extensive data from the tools both, with respect to tool operational data, process related data, and traditional control and data lines hitherto used (SECS communication) is found to be insufficient to meet the data demands of these productivity improvement applications. The newer EDA standards addresses this issue by providing a data acquisition channel from the tool and requiring additional software both at equipment end as well as factory side.
- Integrating large amount of data from disparate equipment and providing the data to factory side applications.
HCL recognizes that along with getting new business –semiconductor factories need to optimize their manufacturing processes to increase their profits. In a bid to provide end- to-end services to the semiconductor value chain – we have developed SEMI-A standards compliant Factory Automation and Plant Systems integration solutions. These solutions can help semiconductor factories achieve greater visibility into their complex manufacturing processes and optimize the same. At the same time, equipment makers can bundle these solutions along with their equipment to offer an end-to-end solution for their clients. Along with these solutions, we offer professional services for integration and installation of these solutions and equipment in factories.
We have proven capabilities in Core Factory Applications like Manufacturing Execution Systems, Dispatching and Routing, Statistical Process Control, and Advanced Process Control. We have expertise in enterprise applications, data acquisition, and inspection tools.
We have experience working with manufacturing equipment made by leading equipment vendors. We have leveraged this expertise in providing Factory Automation Solutions to foundries in the US, Europe and APAC. For Semi Fabs, we have built e-Manufacturing frameworks compliant with Interface-A standards defined by SEMI and SEMATECH, which help integration and management of the various different equipment in a typical fab.
