Content Solutions

HCL provides complete content lifecycle solutions to media and publishing clients. Our services range from content aggregation from multiple sources across formats and delivery of content across channels like hard copy, web or other electronic mediums like CD and video.

Central Content Repository

Our clients can optimize the utilization of their organization wide content with the help of our Central Content Repository solutions. A Central Content Repository is an enterprise wide information management system that is a superset of traditional data repositories. The content repository is a common substrate for developing content-driven applications that eliminates need for large, redundant, non-compliant and rogue data silos. Applications can be developed for different business uses, which use the content from the shared repository. A publishing firm can implement "content services" such as author based versioning, full text search, role based access control, content categorization and content event monitoring. The business process revolving around content can be automated using a workflow and the final content can be published and maintained across multiple platforms and delivery channels using a content management solution. It is these "content services" that differentiate a Content Repository from a Data Repository.

The Content Management System (CMS) stores/reuses the data from the Repository in its most granular level, which is a content asset/document. Each content asset has a metadata (additional information like author, date, business unit) surrounding the content to assist in both searching for the content, as well as assembling the content for delivery.

The set of functionality defined for a "content repository" includes:

  1. Content ownership, by providing greater control over content and allowing ease-to-access and contribute
  2. Ability to deal with Structured & Unstructured Content
  3. Content sharing and re-use across products, which eliminates duplicacy and high maintenance cost
  4. Uniform content development process across business units leads to reduction in development and tracking Effort
  5. Establishing relationships among content of different types
  6. Provide role based access to content and content tracking/auditing
