Looking beyond Test automation
In the ever changing and competitive world of commercial software, ISVs and product companies are under pressure to release software the moment it is ready. Their task is a fine balancing act between releasing partially tested software early and fully qualified software late.
Although automation has been a widely used approach to reduce the actual testing time, test automation is limited and addresses only part of the testing process.
The management of testing environments for testing product releases across multiple platforms has proved to be complicated, non-standardized and labor intensive. Engineers responsible for manually building environments, especially on new or expanded platforms, typically spend significant amount of time repeating the same manual procedures to create a fresh environment each time a test suite is executed. more>>
