A leading pan-Asian conglomerate, operating under well known local brands of supermarkets, hypermarkets, health and beauty stores, convenience stores, and home furnishing stores.
- The legacy replenishment system for stores was inefficient and inflexible to handle current and future needs.
- The application did not support apportioning of items to generate allocation orders (push).
- Allocation was a critical business need to effectively manage situations such as introduction of new items or a promotional item, managing of a forthcoming festival or managing items nearing its expiration date.
- System did not support allocation based on the sales history data.
HCL’s Solution
HCL developed an application to cater to the replenishment, which supported both push and pull. The application supported the following functionalities:
- Orders processed are categorized into three different types, namely scanned store orders, manual store orders, and store orders via allocation.
- Scan orders (Pull) from POS are interfaced to HKMS.
- Manual store orders (Push) are orders considered as store fixtures.
- Allocation orders (Push) are items allocated or distributed to stores without the stores having to order directly from the warehouse.
- These store orders are then consolidated and interfaced to warehousing system for delivery to stores.
- Automatic store order creation for replenishment using apportioning intelligence based on historical sales data.
- Considerable reduction in manual creation of store order at BO and scanned Store Order from stores leading to operational efficiency and decreased cost.
- Timely generation of store orders resulted in improved replenishment workflow process.
- Reduced stock outs and better availability of items at stores helping in better customer reputation.
