A leading pan-Asian conglomerate, operating under well known local brands including supermarkets, hypermarkets, health and beauty stores, convenience stores and home furnishing stores.
The Challenge
In order to satisfy its ambitious growth plans, the customer has been looking for means to increase its revenue in an increasingly competitive market. One of the ways to do so was to engage in promotions for its stores and it wanted to enhance its existing MMDS system to incorporate this promotion requirement.
HCL’s Solution
HCLT provided an enhancement to the existing MMDS application to cater to the promotion requirement. The promotions created in MMDS are downloaded to interface files (text file), which in turn can be uploaded to POS. The promotion functionalities supported are:
- Range and transaction
- Media discount
- Mix and match
- Quantity discount
- Receipt coupon and redemption
- Capability of starting and ending (including mid-day) promotions with flexible duration
- Can be applied to single, multiple, or all stores at various retail unit hierarchy level
- Overlapping promotions can be created with overriding feature
- Increasing revenue and market share
- Clearing excess stock
