Centers of Excellence
As part of our Software Product Engineering practice we have established a number of CoEs in key technology areas like digital protection, open source, HPC/Grid, and location-based services. The CoEs have a charter to build competencies, thought leadership, intellectual property, and specialist solutions. The two of our major CoEs are the Digital Protection CoE and the Open Source CoE called LAMP.
Digital Protection CoEThe Digital Protection CoE, started in 1998, primarily focused on securing and safeguarding digital assets. The CoE now enjoys a strong team of 160 professionals who are experts in different areas of digital protection. The CoE offers specialized services and solutions that encompass the six primary attributes of digital security, namely, authentication, authorization, auditing, confidentiality, data integration and non-repudiation.
LAMP CoELAMP represents the open source web platform. LAMP is an acronym that is derived from a set of free software programs, commonly used together, to run dynamic web sites or servers:
- Linux, the operating system
- Apache, the web server
- MySQL, the database management system (or database server)
- Perl, PHP, Python, and (rarely) Primate, scripting and programming languages
LAMP is the platform of choice for the development and deployment of high-performance web applications. The LAMP stack allows the user of a web browser to execute a program on the web server and thereby receive dynamic as well as static content.
The HCL AdvantageThe LAMP center at HCL is a new initiative to address the customers who wish to shift to open source to take advantage of the lower total cost of ownership (TCO). Our unique proposition lies in listening and fully understanding the customers’ requirements and then offering a complete solution starting from consulting to product engineering, and professional services. We have a team of skilled resources who are well versed in the entire LAMP stack, and who come up with solutions to achieve customer delight.
