FTL & LTL truck load carriers

In the traditional method of working, Carriers are strongly coupled with LSP's for their business and have significant pressure to meet stringent service delivery levels while keeping costs low and providing immaculate visibility into execution.

HCL's range of solutions and services for this industry segment focus on enabling enhanced visibility and optimization across activities. This is achieved through innovative application of GPS, RFID and wireless technologies. HCL has strategically incorporated Engineering and Design development capabilities to meet the hardware requirements of customers for these visibility solutions, thus, emerging as a single stop shop for both hardware and software solutions.

Railroads

Transportation Service providers always seek to get more out of the existing infrastructure and the focus is no stronger in any other area than in Railroads. Railroads have a large scope for automation, structure and the ability to dynamically plan schedules based on demand on the networks, than other modes of transportation. This requires IT networks and computer algorithms to step in and provide the necessary optimization to maximize utilization. This has been a key focus area for investment as it is much cheaper and is also a greener option. Shipping

Sea transport remains the largest carrier of freight in the world as it is the cheapest mode of transportation. Large volumes of data are generated during monitoring, analysis and management of systems onboard the ship and efficient acquisition, storage, transfer and update of data and metrics remains a big challenge for Shippers. HCL offers mobile documentation methods that not only enable efficient onboard storage of all captured data but also ensure periodic transfer of data in batches to the central servers of the company on or near major ports, where network connectivity can be achieved.

Shipping voyages are usually very long in period and real-time monitoring of the cargo is very crucial especially for perishable items which require temperature control to maximize the life-time of the contents. HCL's GPS-based solutions allows shippers to get the real time visibility on the status of the goods and remotely control the temperature and other critical attributes.

Courier and Parcel Distribution

This sector is the most tech-savvy in the industry and highly inclined to adopt innovation.
