With an increase in the number of cloud services, enterprises, both small and large are finding it difficult to locate, acquire and consume cloud services. Today most SaaS vendors offer one or two services in a specific category and an enterprise that is increasingly consuming cloud based services has to undergo the pain of working with multiple vendors and managing relationship across them. This might result in overheads that might slow down the pace of cloud adoption.
Cloud service aggregators provide an alternate model for connecting the vendor and the consumer ecosystem by aggregating services from various vendors and delivering it in a more bundled fashion to enterprises. In this model, they become a single stop shop for enterprises to search, try and buy cloud services and also completely manage the customer relationship including Billing and customer support. Telco's / CSP’s, Utilities, Financial service providers, who already have a trusted relationship with SMB customers, have a great potential to become a cloud service aggregator.
The technology required to enable this is fairly complex and requires a mix of Appstore, SaaS service delivery, Multi-vendor Management, service Federation capabilities. The current version of Agora is primarily used by ISV’s in delivering their products in a SaaS based model. Most of the service delivery requirements are similar between an ISV and Aggregators. Some of the features the platform would provide include
- Store Front
- Product Management with abilities to manage product collaterals
- Standard way for on-boarding the service from various vendors
- Manage and federate identities
- Service fulfillment / Provisioning
- Single sign-on capabilities across multiple services
- Ability to integrate with usage data from third-party providers
- Integrated Billing / Integration capabilities with BSS system of the Aggregator
- Payment support
- L1 Support
- Reseller Management
Aggregation capability is a natural extension to the features Agora provides currently. The current version of Agora is primarily used by ISV’s in delivering their products in a SaaS based model. Most of the service delivery requirements are similar between an ISV and Aggregators. While ISV’s onboard and deliver their own services an Aggregator aggregates services across multiple service providers. In the next release, we are enhancing Agora to be used by Aggregators to rapidly onboard and deliver services across multiple service providers.
