A Large Financial Institution in US. The customer is one of the largest branchless and the only fully integrated financial services company in America serving over 6 million members.

Business Requirements

The client requested ‘third party testing’ services for a mobile banking application. The application performs bank transactions through mobile handset, fund transfer and customer care support through messages. It also enables to view account summary and print using Bluetooth.

HCL’s Solution

HCL performed application functionality testing and information security compliance. HCL used Nokia communicator Simulator during development and pre-deployment. Some of the key features of our testing solution:

  • JUnit for unit testing the mobile application
  • JUnit to test security related encryption/decryption
  • Tested the backend functionality using client test programs
  • Security testing based on customer’s Info security standards
  • Extensive use of simulators, less dependency on the actual handset for testing
  • Performed GUI testing in Nokia 9500
 

Testing Solution Highlights

  • Used Blackberry 8800 emulators to test the application
  • Interoperability testing done using various Simulators and Handsets
  • JUnit for unit testing the mobile application
  • Installed Opera Mini browser in Blackberry 8800 emulator for web client testing
  • Tested the functionality using Internet explorer and test tools like WinRunner
  • JUnit for unit testing the mobile and web application
  • Usability testing by HID team members
