Role: SR Tech Lead Data Visualization / UX Design SME
Location: San Antonio, TX
Job Description: Data Visualization / UX Design SME
The Data Visualization / UX Design SME is responsible for designing engaging user interfaces and ensuring higher user adoption across BI product design guidelines and standards. The candidate will create guidelines as per the set processes to translate on BI Platforms (Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, etc.), in a way that meets our business needs, and tells a cohesive, effective, and aesthetically pleasing story across various charts and visualization techniques.
The Data Visualization / UX Design SME will set standards, independently lead data visualization requirements, and goal conversations, create user interface whiteboards, and build the user interface for analytics / BI applications. The Designer will work collaboratively with data analytics product managers and analysts throughout the planning and development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, fine arts: Studio Art, Graphic or Visual Design, Visual Communications, or equivalent related field required.
- Minimum 10 – 15 years of experience as a data visual designer, infographic designer, interaction designer, user interface designer, or similar preferred.
- Demonstrate intellectual curiosity and passion about data visualization and solving business problems.
- Storyteller capable of delivering creative design and interactive data visualizations.
- Fluency in visual design principles at both a conceptual level and a practical level
- Experience leveraging, and contributing to, design systems and guidelines.
- Passion for proactively learning, exploring, and sharing your knowledge and discoveries.
- Experience with complex data structures, including the ability to create, modify, and innovate around complex data models.
- Proven critical design thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working in a collaborative team and working directly with developers for implementation of designs on various BI platforms.
Must Have Skills
Usability Research, Rapid Prototyping / Mockups for Reporting Applications, Web and Mobile apps, Excellent knowledge of wireframing and design tools like, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, XD), HTML / CSS
Preferred (Good to have) Skills
Setting Best-in-class Visualization and Usability standards across BI Platforms (ex: SAP BO Reporting Suite, Tableau, Qlik, MicroStrategy, Power BI, D3 JS / Web-based applications)

A candidate’s pay within the range will depend on their work location, skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law. This role may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses subject to company policies.
