Job Summary

Chevron – Break Fix Technician

The Break Fix Technician position is an ambassador for Chevron IT. They will primarily focus on supporting hardware issues for multiple locations across the United States. The Technicians must work to quickly resolve customer reported issues in a timely fashion to meet Service Level Agreements, potentially traveling to remote sites to ensure resolution.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

• Warranty service repair on:
o HP workstations and servers
o Lenovo laptops
o Blade systems
o Multiple storage array (MSA)
• Track inventory, order parts as necessary and ship defective parts to suppliers
• Understand and work to resolve out of warranty parts management
• Submit detailed work notes, update records, and submit orders daily
• Rotating 24x7 on-call support for Servers
• Service and repair networking components
• Printer (primarily Xerox) and Plotter support
• Supply users with loaner laptops and image as necessary
• Respond to requests for support via multiple communication channels, prioritizing and assisting in a timely fashion
• Partner with other Chevron IT teams to streamline and improve processes and handling time for issues
• Maintain a high level of professionalism in a fast paced and demanding environment

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in IT or Computer Science preferred
• Technologies - Candidate must have 3 years combined experience and be proficient in supporting the following technologies:
o Hardware troubleshooting with the ability to pinpoint hardware vs. software issue
o Workstation Break/Fix Experience (Windows 7/10, Workstation Dekstop/Laptop Hardware)
o Printers
o Familiarity with networking equipment – switching and routers, cabling
o Office 365
o Desktop imaging
o Strong customer service skills
o Ability to move at a quick pace
o Ability to prioritize several concurrent issues
o Ability to track, maintain, and organize electronic equipment inventory

• Experience in desktop and notebook hardware, operating systems and desktop software. Experience with writing business requirements, process flows, functional and technical specifications, test scripts, and end user documentation. Strong data analysis skills
• Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills - Demonstrated strong analytical & problem-solving skills - able to analyze given situations, develop mental models of complex problems, and identify & recommend approaches to solving them. Demonstrated ability to develop and communicate a compelling business case for use of IT through strong understanding of Chevron business drivers and opportunities. Demonstrated ability to see the bigger picture, denote how processes/tools will impact other processes/tools. Ability to communicate with transparency the impact and risks with mitigation.
