“HCL continues to innovate organizationally around the powerful ‘Employees First, Customers Second’ approach, which is very much aligned with WorldBlu’s philosophy, said Traci Fenton, Founder and CEO, WorldBlu. “At WorldBlu, we applaud HCL for creating a world-class democratic business and for recognizing the importance of giving power to the people, which ultimately impacts performance, employee engagement and the bottom line.”

“In the year 2005, HCL embraced the strategy – Employees First, Customer Second, and retooled the company to become this trusted, transparent and democratic organization as it stands today”, Shami Khorana, President, HCL America. “At HCL our 90,000 transformers view themselves as the fundamental source of company’s value, constantly generating new ideas and becoming the drivers for new business growth. This award is a testimony to the employee driven, management embraced culture that is followed at HCL”, he added.

HCL was selected to the list after an extensive employee survey, the WorldBlu Scorecard™ which was sent to a random sample of its worldwide employee base. Developed by WorldBlu, this survey is based on a decade of research into what makes a world-class democratic organization.

Companies become eligible for a spot on the WorldBlu List of Most Democratic Workplaces™ only after its employees complete the WorldBlu Scorecard™, an assessment evaluating their organization’s practice of the WorldBlu 10 Principles of Organizational Democracy™. The WorldBlu Scorecard™ was developed based on a decade of research into what makes a world-class democratic company.
