From Next 500 to Fortune 500
Over the next 5 years, more than 100 companies - both public and private with annual revenues between $2 billion and $5 billion - will ascend to a place on the Fortune listing of the largest U.S. businesses. Many of these newcomers will come from what you might call the “Next 500” – traditionally solid but unexceptional companies that have managed to break free of their traditional growth trajectory.
In these companies, the CIO can play a crucial role in the transformation. By streamlining of IT operations – which can make a business more nimble and free up funds to invest in transformational revenue-generating initiatives – many companies will unleash their growth and launch them into the ranks of the world’s largest companies.
