Project Description

Our customer, a Tier1 supplier in N.A supplies Steering Angle Sensors to various N.A OEMs. Customer needed a test bench to validate SAS sub system which has high resolution and high precision.

HCL Role

  • Conceptualized and developed a electro-mechanical test bench which has one order better resolution and precision to validate the SAS independently
  • Complete mechanical design of test bench
  • Choice of COTS components – Motor, Drive, Encoder, Coupler
  • Precision Manufacturing and assembling to minimize wobbling and ensure mechanical alignment
  • Complete understanding of product’s features – Hysteresis, Non-linearity, Sensitivity
  • System Test Plan preparation and validation for SAS and Network & Diagnostics functionalities.
  • Independent Validation of customer's SAS sub system using the test bench developed to check whether they meet the specifications of OEMs.

  • HCL was able to deliver a very low cost test bench which can validate various variants of SAS


Technologies/Tools used

  • Tools: Parker software EASI-V, CANalyzer, Segger ST7 flasher
  • Hardware: Parker 250W Stepper Drive / Controller , Stepper Motor LV233-02-10 and BEI Encoder with 3600 lines resolution, Helical Coupling
