Client / Case Background

The Client helps customers transform transactions into relationships and use information more effectively and dynamically to make smarter business decisions faster. They have been doing this since the very beginnings of the company in 1884. While our technology may have evolved from the world’s first cash registers to the retail systems, ATMs and IT services of today, Client’s central mission – to use innovative technology imaginatively to solve their customers’ business problems.

Challenges / Objectives

  • The Client Have their current PeopleSoft application on V8.8/8.47. The goal of the project is to upgrade Client to the latest PeopleSoft V9.0/8.49 MP2 and implement Regional Security, Person Model, eRecruit and Workflow applications.
 
  • As delivered PeopleSoft supports upgrade from V8.8/8.47 to V9.0/8.49 MP1. So it looked like this was the direct path and PeopleSoft certified path would be comfortably applicable here. But client did not want to go to V9.0/8.49 MP1 but to the latest release V9.0/8.49 MP2. Upgrading first to V9.0/8.49 MP1 and then a subsequent movement to MP2 was not accepted by client as it will consume extra time as well as resources. So, it was decided to have MP2 applied on V9.0/8.49 Demo before upgrade and then carry on the normal PeopleSoft certified upgrade path.


HCL‘s Solution / Role

Our services in this engagement included:

  • Application Upgrade (PeopleSoft-HCM 8.8 to 9.0 by using MP2)
  • Customization of eRecruit module
    • once a stable upgraded copy was obtained eRecruit development was done in upgraded V9.0/8.49 MP2 environment. In order to speedup the upgrade process a custom approach was taken by deciding to reapply only those customizations which was there in old PS 8.8.


Results / Benefits

  • Leveraging the PeopleSoft 9.0 ‘Person Model’ functionality for Employee/Non-Employee (Contingent Worker, Contractor, Person Of Interest etc.)
  • Faster turnaround time and availability working parallel i.e. Upgrade and Customization of eRecruit
  • Substantial savings directly using PeopleSoft supports upgrade from V8.8/8.47 to V9.0/8.49 Mp2
