A Tier1 supplier in North America supplying Steering Angle Sensors to OEMs.

Project Description

Customer needed a test bench to validate SAS sub system which has high resolution and high precision.
 

HCL Role

  • Conceptualized and developed a electro-mechanical test bench which has one order better resolution and precision to validate the SAS independently.
  • Complete mechanical design of test bench.
  • Choice of COTS components – Motor, Drive, Encoder, Coupler.
  • Precision Manufacturing and assembling to minimize wobbling and ensure mechanical alignment.
  • Complete understanding of product’s features – Hysteresis, Non-linearity, Sensitivity.
  • System  Test  Plan  preparation  and  validation  for  SAS  and  Network  & Diagnostics functionalities.
  • Independent Validation of customer's SAS sub system using the test bench developed to check whether they meet the specifications of OEMs.


Technologies Used

  • Tools: Parker software EASI-V, CANalyzer, Segger ST7 flasher
  • Hardware: Parker 250W Stepper Drive / Controller , Stepper Motor LV233-02-10  and BEI Encoder with 3600 lines resolution, Helical Coupling

 

Benefit to Customer

 

  • HCL was  able  to  deliver  a  very  low  cost  test  bench which  can  validate various variants of SAS
