The Challenge
The customer was facing the following business problems:

  • Inaccurate forecasting of sales
  • Lack of advance features for order generating, order scheduling, and EDN processing in existing EPoS.
  • Limitation of stock management features of the existing EPoS
  • Direct ordering from stores

HCL’s Solution
A sales-based ordering system was developed with the following functionalities:

  • Daily Demand Forecasting—Based on previous “x” weeks sales pattern and applying the weighted average calculation.
  • Sales Filters—Introduction of sales filter criterion to exclude typical demand due to non-availability, strong promotional activity, etc.
  • Additional order generation algorithms, order generation scheduling, and subsequent EDN processing.

  • Unit level sales and stock management efficiency led to improved margin (28 percent) and 18 percent net profit.
