PERTH, Australia and NOIDA, India, Dec 05, 2025 — HCLTech, a leading global technology company, and The University of Western Australia (UWA) have announced a collaboration to co-develop globally accessible micro-credential programs in AI and cybersecurity, marking the first global micro-credential initiative under UWA’s Enterprise Education ecosystem.

These short-form, stackable learning programs are designed to meet the growing global demand for advanced digital skills. Combining UWA’s academic strength with HCLTech’s industry expertise, the programs will offer hands-on, project-based learning in areas including machine learning, natural language processing, ethical hacking and coding.

The programs will employ a blended approach that combines online and experiential learning. Participants will earn globally recognized, co-branded certifications and gain defined pathways to further study or career growth.

“At HCLTech, we have been working with universities and enterprises to make learning practical, accessible and aligned with real-world job opportunities. Through our collaboration with The University of Western Australia, we will enable learners to build skills that matter, empowering them to apply their knowledge to real opportunities and drive meaningful impact,” said Srimathi Shivashankar, Corporate Vice President and Global Head, EdTech Business at HCLTech.

UWA Vice-Chancellor Professor Amit Chakma said the collaboration marks a significant step towards meeting the future-focused learning needs of a global workforce.

“We are passionate about tech innovation and global learning, where this new partnership will further equip learners with the skills and confidence required to thrive in a fast-changing digital world,” Professor Chakma said.

Professor Chakma is currently leading a 10-day mission to India, as UWA prepares to become the first Australian Group of Eight (Go8) university to establish a physical presence in India.

UWA’s India campus locations in Mumbai and Chennai, now finalized, have been strategically selected for their strong industry linkages, talent hubs and innovation ecosystems – reflecting UWA’s commitment to key cities where India’s economic and technological growth is taking shape.

In recognition of the growing collaboration between Australia and India, this initiative has received support from the Australian Government. Australia’s High Commissioner to India, Philip Green OAM, stated, "UWA and HCLTech’s partnership is emblematic of Australia-India economic synergy. UWA’s academic insight and HCLTech’s real-world experience will deliver a future-ready, job-ready education opportunity in AI and cybersecurity direct to India’s youth.”
