NOIDA, India, July 5, 2023: HCLTech, a leading global technology company, in partnership with Global Alliance for YOUth, Nestlé, Microsoft and Publicis Groupe, concluded Code4YOUth, a hackathon that put the spotlight on digital inclusivity.

Among the winning ideas recognized and rewarded at the virtual grand finale were a digital solution that enabled enhanced classroom connectivity and collaboration, an accessible gaming experience driven by voice commands and a personalized mental wellbeing portal.

“Congratulations to the winners and all the participants who submitted their inspiring projects. The level of innovation demonstrated in each of these projects highlights the great potential in helping youth address real-world challenges around accessing and utilizing digital resources,” said Ashish Kumar Gupta, Chief Growth Officer for Europe and Africa, HCLTech. “We were pleased to join forces with The Global Alliance for YOUth and Nestlé to bring together participants, judges, mentors and partners and ensure a seamless and engaging experience for all.”

The virtual eight-week hackathon launched on February 28 attracted over 5,000 youngsters from more than 30 countries to develop tangible solutions across four challenge tracks — digital inclusivity, skilling for success, mental health and digital accessibility. Over 145 ideas were submitted, from which seven made it to the grand finale. The winning ideas will have an opportunity to be picked by top industry leaders for incubation and development.

"The Code4YOUth hackathon has been a remarkable initiative that showcased the power of collaboration and innovation in driving digital inclusion. We are proud to be part of this transformative event, empowering young talents to create solutions that bridge the digital divide. At Nestlé, we believe in the potential of the youth to shape a better future, and this hackathon has truly demonstrated their ability to drive positive change through their creative solutions,” said Laurent Freixe, Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer, Zone Latin America, Nestlé.
