The Challenge
The customer was facing the following business problems:
- Inaccurate forecasting of sales
- Lack of advance features for order generating, order scheduling, and EDN processing in existing EPoS.
- Limitation of stock management features of the existing EPoS
- Direct ordering from stores
HCL’s Solution
A sales-based ordering system was developed with the following functionalities:
- Daily Demand Forecasting—Based on previous “x” weeks sales pattern and applying the weighted average calculation.
- Sales Filters—Introduction of sales filter criterion to exclude typical demand due to non-availability, strong promotional activity, etc.
- Additional order generation algorithms, order generation scheduling, and subsequent EDN processing.
- Unit level sales and stock management efficiency led to improved margin (28 percent) and 18 percent net profit.
- Reductions in stock holding based on genuine product demand improved
