This IDC Flash summarizes the key highlights from the HCL Technologies' annual Asia/Pacific Industry Analyst Summit held in October 2007 in Singapore. During the event, the company presented the results of a transformation plan initiated in 2005 to challenge the other India service providers (SPs) in the IT and business services markets. HCL Technologies also outlined the pillars of its short and longer-term strategies moving forward to capitalize on its recent successes and create further opportunities for growth.

Prof. Linda Hill, world renowned authority on Leadership and Innovation Strategies started teaching a case study she co-authored with Prof. Tarun Khanna and Emily Stecker. The case study was on HCL Technologies focusing on its unique transformation over the last 2 years, highlighting Employee First. The first class was attended by students from global corporations like Eastman Kodak, J C Penny, Novartis, Citibank etc.

This world class case study will go down the annals of history as an example when future business leaders talk “Strategy and Leadership” and will be taught over the years across the world in the coming months.

…though it has not received the hype of a salesforce.com or Google, we believe HCL may very well be one of the contenders to lead the IT services world of the very near future.

IDC believes that it is a truly groundbreaking contract for an offshore services provider and may very well serve as a turning point for the offshore IT services industry.
