Vijay heads the Engineering and R&D Services (ERS) division of HCL Technologies, with operations spanning the Americas, Europe, and Asia. He leads a team of 41,000+ engineers in developing and supporting products and platforms for several marque customers and top R&D spenders across the Manufacturing and Hi-Tech industries. Vijay is also on the Board of Actian, a hybrid Data Management product company, and a joint venture between HCL Technologies and Sumeru Equity Partners.
As the head of ERS, Vijay is capitalizing on the accelerated demand for Digital Engineering-led Mode 2 services, with a focus on 5G, Industry 4.0, Data Engineering, and Platform Engineering. In addition to these investments, his growth strategy for ERS includes a focus on key industries and segments, a balanced geographical footprint, innovative IP-led partnerships, and inorganic pursuits.
In his career spanning three decades at HCL, Vijay has held many key roles. He led the Hi-Tech and Communications business of HCL’s ERS division where he actively drove innovation across solutions, sales, and service delivery. Vijay devised breakthrough strategies for market differentiation, including solutions, IPs, and strategic partnerships as its chief strategist. Earlier, he had led the Products and Cloud Platform Engineering business across the Software and Internet, Telecom, Media and Entertainment, OEM, Retail, and the Manufacturing industry segments. He played an integral role in incubating HCL's Software business (Products and Platforms).
Vijay started his career with HCL in 1989 in Research & Development. He played a pivotal role in building HCL's system software capabilities. He has led several organization-wide initiatives for HCL’s transformation.
Vijay passionately drives Sustainability and Diversity & Inclusion (D&I), championing key programs that bring HCL and its client organizations together in an ecosystem that strives for a more equal workplace and world.
Vijay has an MBA from the prestigious University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and he holds a Computer Science degree from Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani. He is an avid reader who likes to travel and meditate at leisure.
