The surge in content demand as people are confined to their homes coupled with the unique inability to create new content, put the focus on repurposing old content efficiently and fast, leading to accelerated adoption of automation- and AI-related solutions that were already in the market. But as the pandemic extended and the end became fuzzier, point solutions that were geared for different purposes were quickly extended to fit the need of the hour, as media companies scrambled to meet the increased demand or stem the dramatic loss of revenue. This has impacted the product evolution journeys of many solutions and will continue to influence alliances and acquisitions in the months to come.

The hardest-hit sectors in M&E are those that monetize social/physical interaction—such as live music concerts, cinema, B2B events, and out-of-home (OOH) advertising. Demand from advertisers has also declined, impacting sectors that depend more on advertising revenue streams. The focus is on attracting consumers through faster content delivery (powered by 5G networks) and cheaper subscriptions. ‘Think digital’ is a popular belief deeply rooted in their business models.

In the past the devices would require an inseparable, tightly coupled interface to access and operate them. However, in the recent evolution of smart devices, it is very restrictive to develop a system that cannot lend to deployment in diverse environment specially when the interface and mechanism tend to evolve at different pace. The evolution of smart devices over the time has mandated the need for effective multichannel content publishing. Headless architecture offers an improved solution and additional benefits for producing and managing content while also ensuring a seamless experience. n headless architecture user interface components are separated from the underlying logic & mechanism of a component. This works advantageously great when the logic of a component is sufficiently complex and decoupled from its visual representation. The pandemic has now changed the focus of most organizations’ and user needs. The new strategies of businesses post COVID are centered around contactless, remote collaboration, remote access, digital and delivery of services with minimum physical interaction possible. Headless architecture provides a spectrum of potential that can be incorporated to leverage the benefits while implementing post COVID arrangements. Headless lets you create your own ‘touch’, along with flexibility for incorporating new user experiences, rendering multi-channel delivery, scalability, that will be needed to tune products and services as per the changing demands of the post COVID markets.
