Kalyan Kumar B. (KK) is the CVP and CTO, IT Services of HCL Technologies. KK leads ‘Global Product and Technology Organization’ and is the leader of DRYiCE Business Unit, a unified autonomics and orchestration platform business, which is the core foundation of the 21st Century Enterprise. Additionally, he oversees the cloud services business unit across all service lines within HCL.
In his current role, KK is responsible for defining product & technology strategies, developing new offerings & solutions, and managing practice & service-line lifecycles across ‘next generation IT & operations’, ‘cloud & autonomics/service orchestration, and ‘leveraged platform-centric delivery for DRYiCE’, and ‘leveraged cloud services’.
KK is responsible for creating key frameworks such as ‘DRYiCE Autonomics & Orchestration Framework’. Also, he has conceptualized HCL’s XaaS-based DRYiCE platform that incorporates holistic automation capabilities across Integrated Technology & Operations Automation, Cloud & DevOps Automation, Robotic Process Automation, which leverages Artificial Intelligence & Robotics across all disciplines, including Machine Learning, Neuro-Linguistic Processing (NLP), Cognitive Conversations, Neural Networks, Computer Vision, Cognitive Process Automation, Unified Orchestration and Choreography integrated via XaaS Service Exchange. Under his leadership, DRYiCE NLP has been awarded with the prestigious AIconics Best Innovation in the NLP Category at the AI Summit held in London.
Moreover, KK is widely acknowledged as an expert and path-breaking thinker and practitioner in the field of Business Service Management, IT Service Management, IT Architecture and Cloud Platforms. He has been instrumental in developing many IPs for HCL in these domains. KK is also credited with building MTaaS Service, which has a multi-million turnover today and has emerged as a proprietary benchmark for HCL’s Global IT Infrastructure Services Delivery. His team is the pioneers of MyCloudSM Platform for Cloud Service Management & ElasticOps, which is a global breakthrough in the Utility Computing and Hybrid Agile Ops Model space. He has been recognized across the global IT services industry for his thought leadership in the IT Management and Cloud Computing space.
In addition, KK runs the Exploration and Incubator Group responsible for incubating new services, platforms and IPs for the IT services business. He has been an active core member of HCL’s Digital and IoT Strategy Taskforce.
KK continues to be an ambassador and mentor for the next-generation leaders within the company and is member of HCL’s ‘Talent Council’ focused on encouraging and empowering young talent. He is also one of the respected jury members of ‘MAD JAM’, a program focused on recognizing, rewarding, and celebrating innovation in HCL.
Besides, KK has co-authored six books in the field of Automation / Service management, including ‘Service Integration & Management’, ‘Process Excellence for IT Operations’, ‘Event Management’, ‘CMDB/Service Maps’, and ‘Software Asset Management’. KK has spoken at many prestigious industry forums and is actively serving on the Partner Advisory Boards of key technology partners. He has also participated in Special Academic Programs at Wharton and Harvard Business School. Besides, KK actively participates the Singularity University Programs.
Apart from his professional commitments, KK is passionately committed to the cause of promoting the message of an inclusive world through music. As a drummer and percussionist in a New Delhi based rock band ‘Contraband’, he has collaborated on creating many songs such as ‘Political Song’ and ‘Fisherman and the Banker’ that are essentially focused on encouraging a more sustainable lifestyle and finiteness of the earth’s resources. These songs, among many others, reflect Contraband’s (www.contraband.in) motto of ‘creating and not (just) consuming’. KK’s rock band performs in many public forums to take its motto and message to the youth of the world. The band aims to ‘infect a million minds’ with the philosophy of building a sustainable world.
