Olaf serves as the Director of International Trade Compliance and Empowered Official. He is responsible to the General Counsel and Board of Directors for the overall Trade Compliance Program and ensuring all business units adhere to US Regulatory requirements and Country specific regulations across the Globe. He is charged with overseeing all Government Agency Licenses and Agreements, ensuring there is an effective Trade Compliance Policy in place, and continuing to improve HCL’s overall Trade Compliance Program by expanding capabilities across the globe.
Olaf’s pragmatic approach to Trade Compliance at HCL drives him to support all levels of “the deal” including Sales, Transition and Delivery with boots on the ground so that decisions made during the lifecycle of Proposals, Business Pursuits, Due Diligence, Contract Negotiations, Transition and Delivery around ITAR, EAR, OFAC and DOE Export Compliance are made with a Senior Compliance Subject Matter Expert involved. This unique “Cradle to Grave” Compliance involvement actively reduces risk to our customers and HCL. He recently led HCL’s successful effort to gain the Corporate FCL for its US subsidiary Butler America Aerospace, making BAA the first Indian IT owned subsidiary to possess an FCL.
