Our client is a leading provider of innovative, temperature-controlled logistics and warehousing solutions. They have an expansive, worldwide network of strategically located facilities across North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific.

The Challenge

Replacing AS 400 WMS to meet evolved business needs

The client's globally interspersed warehouses and logistic facilities needed a more robust and future-facing technology backbone. The existing WMS was not conducive to their growth strategy and evolving business requirements. The company set an extensive digitalization target, starting with replacing their AS 400 WMS.

The Objective

End-to-end operation modernization

The client had an ambitious target of modernizing operations, end to end, to maximize efficiency. However, being a pure-play supply chain company, they needed a reliable and trusted technology partner to accomplish the goal. Their transformation initiative was planned to take place over the course of a few years, with 2024 scheduled as the year of completion.

The Solution

A structured migration plan ensuring seamless integration, customer retention and adherence to best practices

HCLTech implemented a comprehensive migration project to support the client's digitalization goals. The main target was to shift the current B2B electronic data interchange (EDI) system to the Boomi EDI platform. Here are the key highlights of the transformation journey:

  • Migration project setup: Facilitated the transition from the existing B2B EDI system to the Boomi EDI platform while ensuring customer retention, reusability and best practices
  • Trading partner migration: Migrated 26 trading partners, comprising 128 transaction types, to the Boomi EDI platform, simplifying communication with partners and collaborators
  • EDI interface creation: Built and processed 200+ EDI interfaces for enabling data integration and interchange across partners and systems
  • Defining migration phases: Implemented a six-phased approach, each concentrating on a different facet of the transformation for a disruption-free transition
  • Template-based transaction processes: Deployed a transaction mechanism that facilitated scalability and reusability
  • Speeding up delivery: Proposed an upgraded toolset for automation-driven, expedited deliveries
