Quinton Fortune: No. 25

Tough-tackling midfielder Quinton Fortune arrived at United from Atletico Madrid in 1999 as Sir Alex Ferguson sought to bolster his Treble winning squad. The South African international had made his name as a left-winger in La Liga, but quickly displayed a versatility and strength of character which made him an able performer at left-back and in central midfield as well as an attacking wide man.

UNITED HONOURS:

FA Community Shield (1): 2003

Intercontinental Cup (1): 1999

Quinton’s seven-year United stay ended when he joined Bolton in 2006, but his effervescent character assured him of a perennial place in the hearts of his friends, peers and supporters at the club.
