The customer faced several challenges related to product testing and rollout. Three sleeves had to be qualified against DO160E within a brief time period, and released for production. In order to carry out successful testing, the sleeves had to be stressed linearly and twisted at the same time while also being pressurized. To enable operation at -200 C, it was important to ensure effective design and fabrication of the test fixture and ATE. HCL actioned a number of measures that helped the client release the product within the stipulated timeline. The sleeves were subjected to linear displacement (offset) and twist as per specification. The force and torque required to achieve these were measured and compared against allowed limits. The tests were critical to qualify the sleeves for aero applications and the end customer was able to release the aircraft on time.
