Lots of information technological trends have emerged in last few years which have potential to strengthen existing manufacturer’s capability to create and develop new and unique service offerings.

Manufacturers are providing service contracts bundled with the products bought by the customers or customer simply leasing the product with predetermined Service Level Agreement (SLAs). The SLAs are generally in terms of availability (asset uptimes) or turnaround time (issue detection to resolution) such as 4 hours. The key to achieve availability related SLAs is to identify issues as early. Late detection of issues aggravate defect in products leading to abrupt breakdown and costly repairs due to more damage. The ability to capture alerts or issues by remote monitoring of products becomes a huge advantage for manufacturers in early detection of issues so that corrective action can be taken.
