InterConnect : Key Highlights of the Event
April 27, 2017

InterConnect this year had many sessions, demos, and networking opportunities with clients, industry leaders and colleagues along with some fun events.

My favorite sessions are always the customer presentations because they describe how real practitioners are implementing our best practices and tools for an optimal solution in their environment.

We have put together a summary of all the sessions along with the presentations given by each of the speakers.

InterConnect was a good mix of sessions, demos and networking opportunities with clients and industry leaders

IBM Service Virtualization/Test Automation: A SWIFT Processor (6839A)

Many financial institutions use SWIFT messaging to communicate financial information to external parties. However, challenges like fee-based service charges, infrastructure provisioning and test scheduling often result in a lack of SWIFT access across all environments. This session from Mark Garcia, IBM, showed us how to test to improve quality, and save time and money, by simulating messaging to external financial institutions with Rational Integration Tester's SWIFT component. Accelerating Application Innovation through Test Automation Excellence: Making QA Critical (4470A)

Who says you need the cloud for good testing efficiency? Not us. We reduced the time it takes to test an application from weeks to hours within our QA practice. Learn how Black Knight Financial Services achieved this level of testing efficiency using the core components of Rational Quality Manager and Rational Functional Tester, as well as their own innovations. This testing ecosystem brings significant benefits to their business even when using a waterfall development process. Andrew Detandt and Michael Freeman, both at Black Knight Financial Services, discussed the openness of the solution that they leveraged to build an architectural foundation that quickly stood up a test environment, ran all required tests, captured any defects and teared down the test environment in a matter of hours. Service Virtualization: The Good, The Bad and The Continuous Delivery Integration (6999A)

State Farm ventured into Service Virtualization in the spring of 2015 using IBM's Rational Integration Tester (RIT) and Rational Test Virtualization Server (RTVS). RIT and RTVS replaced other forms of stubbing services and now is the preferred and recommended tool for service virtualization. Their SV support team has matured rapidly, and recently, their developers and testers have begun to take SV to the next level. Some would say this is the bleeding edge—you be the judge as they share their story. State Farm is also integrating virtual services into their automated testing scripts to enable their continuous delivery pipelines. Their DevOps efforts are beginning to reap the rewards.  Jeff Ritsema and Chad Phillips of State Farm Insurance Companies presented their experiences with the rollout and share State Farm's successes and lessons learned.
