AI-enabled procurement hub modernizes fragmented category data
Overview
A global leader in smart buildings wanted to make procurement decisions faster and more reliable while reducing risk. We helped the client move from scattered spreadsheet-led category management to a centralized AI-enabled procurement experience built on the Palantir Artificial Intelligence Platform so category managers could work with trusted data and actionable insights.
The Challenge

Like many companies whose procurement system is manual or spreadsheet-based, the client, a global leader in smart buildings, was struggling to make effective procurement decisions. Disaggregated and manual data collection, analysis and category strategy, not to mention multiple tools, resulted in inflated costs, slow cycles, and poor visibility, which together produced suboptimal category performance and reduced profitability and agility. These issues also limited category managers’ ability to perform strategic work, reduced opportunities for savings and hindered risk management.
The Objective
Streamlined procurement category management via a centralized, integrated user interface
The client partnered with HCLTech to develop a GenAI and automation-driven centralized, integrated user interface that would manage all of the complexities of procurement for a global enterprise. The goal was to move from disaggregated unstructured data culled from more than 100 sources to enriched, harmonized and streamlined data that would boost category managers’ strategic management, increase opportunities for savings and solidify risk management.

The Solution
HCLTech implemented a GenAI and automation-driven procurement platform using the Palantir Artificial Intelligence Platform. Disaggregated and unstructured data including manufacturer part numbers, internal part numbers and supplier pricing were unified into a single integrated user experience.
The platform connects enterprise data and operations allowing category managers to search analyse and act on information in one place. AI-driven processes extract content close data gaps and structure information through an ontology that identifies relationships for both human and machine understanding.
Automated workflows help identify pricing discrepancies validate savings opportunities and execute approved actions. Category managers are supported with actionable insights and recommendations as they prepare for supplier negotiations while continuous feedback improves future outcomes.
The Impact
The new procurement platform enabled more strategic and profitable category management decision making. Key measurable outcomes included:
- 30% - 45% overall SDLC optimization using HCLTech AI Force and industry tools
- More than 50% improvement in code quality and compliance
- Over 30 active customer engagements using AI Force
The solution successfully met the client’s objectives by combining the strength of the Palantir platform with HCLTech’s deep expertise in AI driven procurement transformation.
