Role definition –
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced DC Hands & Feet Support & EUC Lead to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible datacentre hands and feet technician, which involves managing and executing the installation, movement, and decommissioning of hardware in the data centre and additional responsibilities of EUC applications, and related technology. Support includes specification, installation, and testing of computer systems and peripherals within established standards and guidelines.
Expected qualification and critical experiences –
- Resolving, and documenting end user technical issues regarding desktop support, printers, etc.
- Providing 1st line IT support services to the customer, ensuring that all requirements are met within agreed service targets.
- They participate in team meetings for metric analysis and goal achievement, coordinate with third-party vendors, contractors, and technical teams, and adhere to security and safety best practices in the data centre.
- Routine maintenance tasks such as tape management and hardware health checks are also part of the role, along with providing hands and feet support, managing data centre audits, coordinating vendor deliveries, and handling hardware inventory and location management.
- Activities require interaction with EUC application software and operating systems to diagnose and resolve unique, non-recurring problems.
- Troubleshooting and resolving software issues; reimaging computers/hard drives, backing up and restoring settings, and associated systems administration activities.
- Receive end user devices from vendor, unpack, tag, enter into CMDB and install the device at the user’s desk.
- Ensure device is completely wiped for Disposal, unplug the device and store in the disposal area at customer’s premises.
- Ensure that there is sufficient local inventory for laptops and desktops at the customer’s premises.
- Inform the customer if the inventory level is low, and/or the devices received from OEM are defective.
- Taking ownership of issues through to resolution on all appropriate requests.
- Categorizing and prioritizing end user support requests and service requests by utilizing a customer ticketing system to track tickets and provide up-to-date status and information.
- Moving equipment associated with escalated help desk incidents and service requests.
- Coordinating with procurement staff to purchase hardware and software.
- Participating in team meetings for metric analysis and daily/weekly goals achievement.
- Coordinating and interacting with third-party vendors, contractors, and technical teams.
- Adhering to security and safety best practices in the data center.
- Executing routine maintenance tasks such as tape management and hardware health checks.
- Providing hands and feet support in the data center.
- Supporting and managing data center audits.
- Managing and coordinating vendor deliveries and vendor management teams.
- Handling hardware inventory and location management.
- Having knowledge of ticketing systems and appropriate communications.
Mandatory Skills and Certification:
- Excellent skills in user IT infrastructure – Desktops, Laptops, Printers, etc.
- Strong technical skills in Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems and business productivity applications such as Office.
- Proficiency in managing and executing the installation, movement, and decommissioning of hardware including cables, servers, in the data center
- Experience with Datacenter Infrastructure Management tools and IT Service Management tools for performing day-to-day activities inside the datacenter.
- Skills in hardware planning services across datacenter/data rooms and remote locations, including IMACD services and inventory management for server and network devices
- Knowledge of infrastructure labeling, RFID tagging, asset scanning, and auditing across DCIM.
