Job description:
Job Title: Telecommunications Specialist
Job Summary:
The organization is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Telecommunications Specialist to engineer, manage, maintain, and support our telecommunications systems and equipment. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliable operation of voice, data, video, and wireless communication systems, troubleshooting issues, and implementing necessary upgrades or repairs.
Responsibilities:
- System Management and Support:
- Install, configure, monitor, and maintain telecommunications equipment, including phone systems, voicemail, video conferencing equipment, and related software.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for telecommunications issues, diagnosing and resolving problems related to voice, data, video, and wireless networks.
- Perform system diagnostic checks and preventative maintenance to ensure optimal performance and identify potential issues.
- Installation and Cabling:
- Install and test cabling for voice, data, and video communications systems.
- Coordinate the installation of office wiring infrastructure.
- System Planning and Design:
- Plan and prepare for the installation of telecommunications network or systems equipment.
- Apply user requirements to technology and develop or refine telecommunications systems plans.
- Research and determine budgetary requirements for telecommunications systems.
- Troubleshooting and Repair:
- Investigate and resolve problems concerning the operation of telecommunications systems, hardware, and equipment.
- Perform repairs to telecommunications equipment and systems.
- Resolve telecom equipment failure and unsatisfactory performance issues.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain records of system performance and operations.
- Document network configurations, programming, plans, requests, activities, and specifications.
- Analyze network performance and prepare and present reports.
- Adherence to Standards:
- Follow industry standards and best practices for telecommunications systems.
- Ensure compliance with Federal Communications Commission policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field (e.g., Computer Science, Telecommunications) or equivalent work experience is typically required.
- Proven work experience as a Telecommunications Specialist or in a similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of telecommunications systems, including voice, data, video, and wireless technologies.
- Familiarity with telecommunications equipment, including routers, switches, phone systems, and related hardware.
- Experience with telecommunications test equipment and troubleshooting.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
A candidate’s pay within the range will depend on their skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law. This role may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses subject to company policies. In addition, this role is eligible for the following benefits subject to company policies: medical, dental, vision, pharmacy, life, accidental death & dismemberment, and disability insurance; employee assistance program; 401(k) retirement plan; 10 days of paid time off per year (some positions are eligible for need-based leave with no designated number of leave days per year); and 10 paid holidays per year.
