Job description:
Position Cost Engineer –Stamping & welding
Location Auburn Hills, Michigan USA
Experience requirement Minimum 5 years in Manufacturing & Costing, Total exp – more than 10 years

Job Description
- Work experience in manufacturing, production, quality, process expertise and costing Field
- Expertise in Steel/Aluminum Stamping and Welding: Progressive/Transfer/Tandem press - defining welding lines industrialization by capacity and welding seams/spot design
- Knowledge in casting processes: Gravity casting, LPDC, HPDC.
- Supplier negotiation
Mandatory requirements - Bachelor’s in mechanical engineering or manufacturing
- Manufacturing processes knowledge in combination with relevant experience in developing EDD, variable and tooling costs for automotive components.
DESIGN TO COST: - Provide Engineering with support during the vehicle development phase for target achievement (Design to Cost)
- Release cost engineering estimate by reference or through bottom-up analysis during development phase up to contract milestones
SOURCING: - SHOULD COST CALCULATION through bottom-up approach for new & modified purchased components (variable & supplier tooling) to support Project Team business cases (Initiatives, Product Actions, Feasibility studies and others)
- Provide purchasing support during supplier negotiations through gap analysis of supplier’s price breakdown detail
SERIAL LIFE: - Evaluate engineering changes to establish technical cost for the change and identify the cost drivers for variable and supplier tooling
- Collaborate component technical solution cost drivers with suppliers for variable cost & tooling
COMMODITY CHAMPION: - Periodic Supplier visits to maintain & improve internal know-how of manufacturing processes & best practices
- Identify potential cost optimization opportunities and support company technical cost reduction activities
- Provide global component cost comparison analysis by working with the Project Cost Engineering community
- Develop the cost structure for component standardization plans
- Identify opportunities from benchmarking, innovation technologies, best countries

Qualifications - Advanced Degree in Engineering or Manufacturing or Business.
- Proficiency in NX and Teamcenter.
Advantageous - Required Automotive industry experience.
- Automotive cost reduction/ Should cost experience.
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong Analytical and quantitative skills with ability to draw decisions using data and metrics.
Compensation and Benefits
A candidate’s pay within the range will depend on their work location, skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law. This role may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses subject to company policies.
