The bootloader combines the concept of bootstrap, a system and loading an operating system or an application onto a memory. Bootloaders are often used in the embedded systems for the basic hardware initialization, including processor, peripherals, memory, different register configuration, securely boot and loading operating systems & applications. This paper presents key parameters and methodology to select bootloaders from the list of available open-source communities, and the methodology presented can also be used to create a custom bootloader.
