‘Text Analytics’ and ‘Text mining’ are fast evolving fields applied in developing use cases like spam detection, sentiment analysis, language translation etc. Today, any or all forms of text media, including what appears on images and videos, are consumables and are available for providing insights and adding value.
This paper describes the opportunity space for text analytics in a wireless telecommunication ecosystem and lists down some of the main challenges. The sources of text information considered are alarms, logs, defect-tickets, troubleshooting guides, functional specifications, etc. The paper focuses on the possible approaches for retrieving information from text corpora and this information can then be used for a variety of use cases such as anomaly detection, preventive care, aiding planning and forecast.
