Differential heat treatment is also called selective heat treatment or local heat treatment. It is a technique used during heat-treating to harden or soften certain areas of a material, creating a difference in hardness between these areas. There are many techniques for creating a difference in properties, but most can be defined as either differential hardening or differential tempering. Differential tempering was more commonly used to make cutting tools, although it was sometimes used on knives and swords as well.
High-Rate Deformation of Sheet blank is the process of applying sudden pressure to a certain area or in whole, to obtain the desired shapes of the product. Usually, it can be defined as the impulse loading process. Impulse forces are the big issues when it comes to sheet blank that is going to be deformed. An impulse is defined as a change in momentum, and it is equivalent to an application of force for a duration of time. In other words, we can estimate the force applied to the sheet blank by estimating the change in momentum and the change in time. When using this technique to get an estimate, we have to remember that shock loads also have the effect of causing vibrations in the joints and connections of our systems. In our case we are going to use Electro Hydro Forming technique for impulse loading which can be done by using specialized electrohydraulic installation. Download the whitepaper to know how
