Demand sensing and Inventory Optimization
Arindam Sen - Director, Manufacturing Solutions | July 12, 2018

Demand sensing is a new technique of forecasting. This technique uses mathematical methods on real-time information to calculate a forecast of demand with higher accuracy. The higher accuracy of demand sensing reduces forecast error by a significant margin, compared to traditional and conventional forecasting techniques. Inventory optimization, on the other hand, has two parts, optimization of safety stock and optimization of cycle inventory. Though cycle inventory is optimized predominantly by linear programming method, safety stock is the direct function of forecast error and service level. If demand sensing and inventory optimization techniques are used together efficiently, it will allow the enterprise to function in make-to-forecast (MTF) model which will ensure higher forecast accuracy, higher inventory turn, low inventory carrying cost, and low cash-to-cash cycle time (C2C).

Voice Interactions – A Channel to Better Health Outcomes, Part 2: For HCPs
Holger Semsch - Director & Head EU LSH Consulting | July 3, 2018

As value-based healthcare gradually replaces the traditional fee-for-service model, enhanced patient health outcomes will inevitably help HCPs. A study from 2016 unearthed that physicians spend nearly 50% of their time in office on paperwork.
When patients come in for a consultation, they are required to answer an exhaustive list of questions about their medical history, administrative, or legal documentation, such as consent forms or proof of awareness. Voice-enabled devices can contribute extensively by providing instant answers to questions on drug compositions, possible side effects, and allergies, thereby enhancing the clinical outcome and improving patient-provider interactions.
The recent Alexa Diabetes Challenge featured about 100 participants from across the world leveraging health pattern intelligence from various voice-enabled devices to make personalized recommendations and provide constant lifestyle coaching and monitoring.
Whenever a patient is onboarded to a voice-supported patient engagement platform, it ultimately means that there is at least one HCP leveraging the same to digitalize a care plan. Once patients accept ‘Dr. Alexa’ as the administrator of their disease-related to-do list, it simply feels natural that the HCP is interacting with the same avatar while adjusting care plans during practice visits.
